Made with just 5 ingredients this refreshing and healthy gluten-free drink is a fruity version of a traditional Indian lassi drink. Traditionally a lassi is made with plain yogurt, sugar, cardamon, orange blossom water and garnished with dried fruits. The lassi I became familiar with and really love is the mango lassi.

When I was first diagnosed with celiac disease, a natural health practitioner told me to add a mango lassi to my daily diet. The combo of buttermilk and orange blossom water is very healing to the gut. I did start making and drinking a mango lassi daily and did start to slowly feel better.

This gluten-free lassi is made with a frozen dragon fruit blend, buttermilk, cardamon, maple syrup and rose water. It is so refreshing and delicious! Chilled drinks are perfect on warm days or anytime as a healthy breakfast smoothie. Rose water is a common ingredient in Middle Eastern and Indian recipes-especially desserts. It has a delicate floral aroma and taste but use sparingly. A little goes a long way. You can find it in the grocery store where you would find Indian or Middle Eastern foods.

HOW TO MAKE THE DRAGON FRUIT LASSI:

  1. Add all the ingredients to a vitamix blender.
  2. Blend until smooth.
  3. Pour into 2 glasses.
  4. Top with crushed pistachios and rose petals.
  5. Add a straw and enjoy!

  • 1 cup frozen dragon fruit blend( red dragon fruit, strawberries, pineapple and mango)
  • 1 ½ cup buttermilk 
  • ¼ tsp cardamom
  • ½ cup ice
  • 1 Tbsp maple syrup
  • ½ tsp rose water
