Hot beef sandwiches.
Hot beef sandwiches.
Would you like one?
Well, now you can have one my gluten free friends.
This is another easy recipe using beef round steaks. In fact this recipe is even easier than the last one. It uses an ingredient I had never tried before, but have been noticing it mentioned in a lot of the blogs I follow.
Jar of Pepperoncini peppers.
You can find jars of these at your local Safeway store. Basically they are a pickled pepperoncini pepper which have a slightly sweet flavor and can range from medium to medium-hot.
Again, in this recipe I used my La Crueset casserole dish. But you could also do this in a slow cooker. I would brown the steaks first though.

Hot Beef Sandwiches

  • 3-4 beef round steaks
  • 1/2 jar pepperoncini peppers, with juice
  • 1/4 – 1/2 cup beef stock
  • Buttered and toasted gluten free hamburger buns (I get mine at gf patisserie bakery in Cochrane)
  • Swiss cheese

  • Combine all ingredients in a heavy pot or dutch oven.
  • Cover and bake in a 300 degree oven for 6 hours.
  • Remove from oven and with 2 forks, completely shred all the meat.
  • Turn oven to broil.
  • Place toasted buns on a cookie sheet.
  • Top with meat and then a slice of cheese.
  • Place under broiler until cheese melts (watch closely) approx 2-3 minutes.
  • Enjoy!
