I have seen similar recipes call these squares no bake Sweet Marie Bars. Having never had one I can’t say how similar they are to a Sweet Marie chocolate bar, but I do think they taste like a O Henry bar. Regardless of what they are called, they are a tasty square to make.

HOW TO MAKE THE O HENRY BARS:

  1. In a microwavable bowl add the brown sugar, corn syrup and butter.
  2. Microwave on high for a minute and stir. Then return to microwave and on high heat until mixture is melted and bubbly.,
  3. Add peanut butter and vanilla and mix well.
  4. In a large bowl add the rice krispies, chopped peanuts and salt and stir.
  5. Pour hot mixture over krispies and stir well.
  6. Press into a parchment lined square baking pan.
  7. Add peanut butter and chocolate chips into a glass bowl.
  8. Microwave for 30-45 seconds until chocolate is melted. Stir well.
  9. Pour topping over base and spread all over.
  10. Place in refrigerator for at least an hour to set.
  11. Slice and serve.

  • Add brown sugar, corn syrup, and butter into a glass bowl or microwavable bowl.
  • Microwave for a minute and stir.
  • Microwave again for a couple minutes until melted and bubbly.
  • Add peanut butter and vanilla and mix well.
  • In a medium bowl add the rice krispies, chopped peanuts and salt and stir.
  • Pour melted mixture over krispies and sti well.
  • Press into a parchment lined 8 x 8 square pan.
  • Melt in microwave the topping ingredients (peanut butter and chocolate chips).
  • Spread the topping onto the base.
  • Refrigerate for at least an hour.
  • Slice and serve.
